Periodic Table of EdTech

With the pivot to remote teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers are equipping themselves with numerous educational technology (EdTech) tools to support this new teaching model. Inspired by Jeffrey Dunn’s (2015) work on the Periodic Table of Educational Technology and as a chemistry teacher myself, I created an updated version of the periodic table to reflect this new teaching environment.

The periodic table below is the result of nine months of trial and error from myself and my colleagues as we have embarked on different teaching models. What you will find in this periodic table is an emphasis on tools that are required for various teaching activities including classroom discussions, creations, and formative assessments. Furthermore, I’ve also included examples of tools that I’ve personally used  and have found to be helpful in this time of remote teaching and learning.

I cover the use of EdTech on a weekly basis, if you’re interested in reading more about these tools in greater detail, and how they might support your teaching and learning environments.
